Albanian Alps tours at a glance

Tours in the Albanian Alps fall into a few types: a boat day on Lake Koman, a day trip to Valbona or Theth, and a three-day program with a walk over the pass. They are not the same product, and they do not all start in the same place. Many guided departures begin in Tirana or Shkodër, not in Kukës. Check the meeting point on every tour before you book.

The prices below are from-prices advertised in 2026. They are not final checkout prices for a given date, and a from-price does not show free seats. Check what is included and the cancellation terms before you pay.

Our picks: Albanian Alps tours

Pick the three-day Valbona and Theth hike with transfers if you want to walk on your own. The Komani Lake day trip with a guide and boat ticket suits you if you would rather stay on the water, and the Valbona transfers are for people who plan their own days there.

The Albanian Alps in detail

What each type of trip involves.

Boat day on Lake Koman

The ferry sails from Koman at 09:00 and returns from Fierza at 13:00, with about 2 hours 30 minutes on the water. The crossing itself is the boat day.

Komani lake ferry →

Valbona day trip

A trip to the valley depends on the road connection from Fierza, which is a minivan at 12:00 for €8 per person when you book another service with a prepaid online ticket. Flights and a Kukës hotel are not part of it.

Valbona valley →

Theth day offer

Theth lies in the neighboring valley. A day offer at €49 per person is advertised in 2026. Ask where it starts and how you get there before you plan the day.

Three days in the mountains

The Albanian Alps tour runs three days from €297 per person and includes the crossing between Valbona and Theth. A walk of this kind needs snow-free conditions, usually June to September.

Tour or on your own

The ferry, the minivan and the guesthouses can be arranged on your own. A tour saves planning, but a booked tour is not a safety clearance for the pass.

A day in Prizren

Prizren in Kosovo is a different kind of day, about 39 km from Kukës with a border crossing. It is not part of the Alps tours.

Prizren guide →

Snow, safety and where tours start

A multi-day Alps tour with a pass crossing depends on the snow. In May 2026 the national park authority named snow and avalanche areas and advised against crossing on your own. Ask the operator about the route for your dates and about the alternative if the pass is not safe.

Tours often start in Tirana or Shkodër. If your base is Kukës, plan the road to the meeting point as part of the trip. The getting there page explains the bus and the toll road from Tirana. Confirm the day and the pick-up point with the operator.

What to check before you book

Five points that differ from tour to tour.

Look at the meeting point and the time. Look at what the price includes, because a from-price is a starting figure. Look at the season, since the mountain crossing depends on snow. Look at the cancellation terms, and at whether the ferry crossing or the Valbona minivan is part of the package or a separate ticket. If you travel with a car, remember that the ferry needs a reserved vehicle space before the terminal tunnel, as the ferry page explains.

Plan the rest of your trip

Tours are one part of a longer route.

To place a tour in a longer journey, see the north Albania route. For a bed before or after a tour, the where to stay page compares the town, the region and the valleys. Seasonal limits are on the weather page.

Albanian Alps tours: frequently asked questions

Do Albanian Alps tours start in Kukës?

Many guided departures start in Tirana or Shkodër. Check the meeting point on each tour, because a start in Kukës is not something to assume.

How much does an Albanian Alps tour cost?

Advertised from-prices in 2026 are €49 per person for a Theth day offer, €99 for a Valbona tour and €297 for a three-day Albanian Alps tour. Check what is included for your date.

Is the Valbona transfer included?

The minivan from Fierza to Valbona is an add-on, €8 per person, when you book another service and pay the online ticket in advance. Flights, a Kukës hotel and private guiding are not included automatically.

Can I do the pass walk with a tour in spring?

Snow can remain into late May, and the usual walking season is June to September. Ask the operator about the route for your date.

Is the ferry part of a tour or a separate ticket?

Both exist. You can buy the Koman to Fierza crossing on its own at €10 or ALL 1,000 in cash, or join a tour that uses it.

Is kukes.org a tour operator?

No. This is an independent guide. It does not run tours, and it has no link to the ferry operator, the municipality or any hotel.
